Just realized my watermark was too small to hold up in a dispute
Last month a client in Austin cropped my 120 pixel corner mark off a set of 30 product photos and tried to claim I never delivered the final files, but the raw metadata and a full res preview I had sent through my portal proved my case in under an hour, so has anyone else had luck using embedded EXIF data as proof when a watermark gets removed?
And taking that a step further, I always shoot a quick screen recording of the full res files in my delivery folder before I send the link. It shows the file names, sizes, and dates all in one take, plus you can see the watermark sitting there plain as day. That way, if someone strips it and says you never sent finals, you've got a video that matches their exact file names to your portal timestamps. EXIF is great, but it's easy for a client to claim they got a different version or that you edited it later. The recording has never failed me once, and it takes like two minutes to make. One guy tried to pull that crop trick on me years ago, and I just sent him the timestamp of the recording plus his own email saying he got the files, and he backed off real fast.
