Rant: A shop in Portland put my logo on 400 shirts and then ghosted me for 3 months
Back in February I took on a rush job for a small coffee brand out in Portland, Oregon, and they needed 400 tees printed with a hand drawn logo I did for them. I sent the art over as a layered file and they gave me half up front, which is $1,200, and swore the rest would land once the shirts shipped. Three months went by with no reply, no payment, nothing but a read receipt on my follow up. Then a buddy in Denver sent me a photo of the same logo on a rack of shirts at a market, and my name was nowhere on the tag. I sat down that night and pulled every email and text into one folder, and honestly it took me two hours just to sort the dates straight. What finally got it moving was a short letter citing the copyright registration I filed after the first job went sideways in 2019. Has anyone here dealt with a small brand that outsources the printing and then plays dumb about who owes the artist?
