All the new stylists at my shop avoid using heat tools, but I stand by my flat iron.
Proper heat protection and technique make styling with tools safe and effective.

Seriously, my friend tried that whole no-heat thing for a few months. Her curls just looked like a frizzy mess, so she went right back to her trusted flat iron. What's the point if the style doesn't even hold?

Sounds like the curls needed more time to figure themselves out. Flat iron's just a permanent solution to a temporary frizz problem.

Honestly, I went through the same thing. My hair was a frizzy disaster without my flat iron. I mean, who has time for hair that won't hold a style? I started using a heat protection spray and working in smaller sections. Now my hair stays smooth and the curls last way longer. Why would I stop using something that actually works? It's not about the tool, it's about using it right.
