Warning: The client who wanted 'sunset' hair and brought a picture of a literal fire
So last Tuesday at the salon in Riverside, a new client came in asking for 'sunset' hair... she pulls out her phone and shows me a photo of a blazing orange and red wildfire. I just stared for a second and said, 'You want your hair to look like a forest fire?' She nodded, totally serious. I mixed 3 different reds and 2 oranges, did a balayage, and honestly... it kind of worked? It was super bright, but she loved it. Has anyone else had a client bring in a picture of something that was not hair at all?

Wait, she brought a picture of a real wildfire? Like, a photo of trees burning? I can't get over that. What happens if she walks into a dry field, do they try to put her out?

Honestly, you have to ask for a few more pictures to get the vibe right. A single photo can be misleading, so I always have them make a small mood board. It saves so much time and avoids a total miscommunication.

That wildfire hair story is amazing. My friend had something similar happen at her salon last year. A client brought in a picture of a peacock feather, not the colors but the actual pattern and texture. She had to figure out how to cut and layer the hair to get that eye shape. It was wild, but it turned out cool. David_palmer, your joke about the dry field is pretty funny, but honestly some of these looks are so out there they might actually be a fire hazard.
