Can we talk about how I avoided coworking spaces for 2 years and now pay $175 a month for one
I worked from my kitchen table in Portland for two years because I figured paying rent to sit near strangers was a scam, and honestly the isolation was fine until it wasn't. Then last March a guy at a coffee shop mentioned a spot on Hawthorne that does a $175 monthly plan, and after 3 weeks there I booked two new clients just from people asking what I was working on. What finally pushed you into a shared space after swearing them off?
Same thing happened to me with gyms. I swore off paying for one for years because I could run outside for free, then I joined one in 2021 and realized I show up way more when I'm paying and when other people are around doing the same thing. There's this pattern where we think we're saving money by going it alone, but we're really just paying with something else, like time or momentum or just never getting around to it. The kitchen table works fine until you need someone to see what you're doing, and that's true for way more than work.
