Hit 50 coworking meetups in Austin last week, didn't expect that
I always thought tracking how many local meetups you go to was a waste of time. But after hitting 50 coworking events at the Capital Factory space downtown, I realized the number actually showed me how many solid connections I made. It wasn't about the count itself, it was seeing 12 repeat faces that turned into real project referrals over the last 18 months. Anyone else track their meetup count and find it mattered more than you thought?

Funny thing I noticed at the Capital Factory too - the count also shows you who the real organizers are behind the scenes. @drews55 mentioned repeat faces but theres a layer under that. After about 35 events I started seeing the same 4 people setting up chairs, grabbing name tags, or just staying late to clean up. Those are the folks holding the thing together but not looking for credit. One of them ended up being the one who quietly matched me with a client from his own network because he saw I stuck around. The number lets you spot the glue people who dont wave their own flag. Made me pay more attention to who is actually building the community instead of just showing up to it.

Kinda weird how the number becomes a shortcut for remembering the quality of the people. Once you cross a certain threshold you start noticing patterns like who actually shows up sober and ready to talk shop versus who just wants to hand out business cards and bounce. I hit 30 meetups in a row at this one spot downtown and realized the real value was the three guys who showed up to every single one with actual work to discuss. Those repeat faces turned into two paid contracts and one partnership that's still going a year later. The count just helped me visualize the grind and made the whole thing feel less random.
