Boom trucks versus lattice crawlers on tight city jobs
Used to swear by the big lattice crawler for everything downtown, but after a tight fit near a parking garage in Nashville last fall I switched to a 50-ton boom truck for most urban picks. Setup time dropped from 2 hours to maybe 20 minutes, and the outrigger footprint fits between lanes way easier. Anyone else making the same swap for street work?

You ever had a boom truck sink a pad on soft asphalt downtown? Cause I have, and it made me miss the crawler real quick. The setup speed is nice, but that counterweight swing clearance can sneak up on you too. Depends on the street crown, honestly, some days I'm still hauling the lattice rig out.
