Wasted a whole morning on a cheap load level from a roadside stand
It was supposed to save me time setting a generator, but the thing bent under 8,000 pounds. Had to stop everything and send my oiler for a proper one. Anyone know a good brand for heavy gear that actually holds up?

Yeah I used to grab whatever was cheap too, but @kevin_williams is right, that forged steel stuff is the only way to go for real weight.

My crew tried a bargain bin load leveler from a truck stop off I-95 last season, and it looked like a twisted pretzel after one lift. We only had about 6,500 on it. I swear by the forged steel ones from Columbus McKinnon now, their CM Loadstar line hasn't let me down with 10-ton picks. That cheap stuff is just scrap metal waiting to happen.

Exactly, and @quinnprice gets it too. That forged steel has a totally different grain structure, it's not just bending under stress. Those bargain ones are basically cast iron, full of weak spots you can't even see.
