That exact thing happened to me on the Olympic coast. The tide charts said 3:15 PM, but the surge started rolling in hard by 2:30. Now I always add a two hour buffer, minimum, and I physically circle the safe exit points on my paper map with a red pen. If you can't see your next escape route, you've already gone too far.

TIL my old habit of just wiping down a connector with a rag was causing intermittent faults. A guy at the hangar in Dayton showed me the proper contact cleaner spray and my callbacks dropped.
Yeah, I used to think a dry rag was good enough too. The guy in Dayton showed me the CRC brand stuff, which is what @tessap97 is asking about. It really does make a difference for those weird gremlins.
