inThe time I picked the 'shortcut' on the Lost Coast Trail
That exact thing happened to me on the Olympic coast. The tide charts said 3:15 PM, but the surge started rolling in hard by 2:30. Now I always add a two hour buffer, minimum, and I physically circle the safe exit points on my paper map with a red pen. If you can't see your next escape route, you've already gone too far.

inTIL my old habit of just wiping down a connector with a rag was causing intermittent faults. A guy at the hangar in Dayton showed me the proper contact cleaner spray and my callbacks dropped.
Yeah, I used to think a dry rag was good enough too. The guy in Dayton showed me the CRC brand stuff, which is what @tessap97 is asking about. It really does make a difference for those weird gremlins.

inThat job in Tacoma where we had to lay 800 bricks a day
Yeah, that fast-setting mix is brutal. We had a supplier send us the wrong type in July once, and it was basically turning to concrete in the bucket before we could even get it on the trowel. Had to scrap a whole pallet of brick because we couldn't clean the joints in time.
