Update: My Denver co-living space had a 'quiet hour' that wasn't so quiet
I was trying to finish a video edit for a client in the shared workspace at The Grid House last Tuesday, right during their posted 2pm quiet block. The guy next to me decided it was the perfect time to take a very loud, very detailed sales call about industrial pipe fittings. I had to pack up and work from a coffee shop for three hours. Has anyone else had a house rule totally ignored like that, and what did you do?

Industrial pipe fittings, the universal soundtrack for deep focus. I would have started editing my video to sound like a factory just to compete.

Honestly, I would have just tapped him on the shoulder and pointed at the quiet hour sign. Sometimes people get in a zone and forget the rules. Packing up and leaving for three hours seems like letting one rude person win. The whole point of those rules is that someone has to speak up first.

Ugh, that's the worst. Did you ever try the "loud, pointed sigh" while staring directly at the rule sheet? I had a similar thing happen with someone practicing ukulele during a study block.
