Found an old prompt journal from 5 years ago last night

I was digging through my closet in Austin and found this notebook from 2018. It had 40+ writing prompts I'd jotted down for a short story series I never finished. Stuff like "a barista who can taste emotions" and "the last phone booth in a smart city." Last week I tried turning one into a 500 word flash piece and it actually worked. The old ideas still felt fresh after I tweaked them a bit. Has anyone else dug up old prompts and had them surprise you?

Oh man, that's awesome! I found an old sketchbook from 2017 with ideas for a comic strip that never went anywhere, and yeah, a couple of them actually clicked when I dusted them off and rewrote them with what I know now. @the_jessica nailed it though, it's wild how the future caught up to those ideas and made them hit different.

That thing about the barista who can taste emotions got me thinking. Five years ago that would've been a gimmick, but now with all the AI stuff and how we're so plugged in, it hits different. It's like the old prompts become time capsules that show how our worries changed. The phone booth one too - back then it was just "technology takes over," but now it's almost nostalgic, you know?

Man, it's wild how yesterday's scary future is already today's old news.
