My bank cut my credit limit by $2,500 out of nowhere last Tuesday
Ngl I checked my app last Tuesday morning and my limit on my oldest card went from $5,000 down to $2,500 with zero warning. I called the number on the back and the rep said it was a routine review based on how I use the card, even though I pay on time and my balance sits under $600 most months. I was about to finance a $1,800 vet bill for my dog and that cut my room in half, so I ended up putting $900 on a different card with worse interest. The rep told me I can ask for a review in 6 months but there is no guarantee. Has this happened to anybody after a stretch of low usage, and did calling back a second time ever get it fixed?
Had the exact same thing happen on a card I barely touched for like 8 months, they dropped me from 6k to 3k. Called twice and got nowhere, both reps gave me the same script about "account review." One thing that actually worked was stopping by a branch and talking to a banker in person, she put in some kind of note and my limit went back up about 3 months later. Low usage is the kiss of death with these banks, they want to see you swipe it and pay it off. If you go that route, put a small recurring bill on it like Netflix or gas and let it autopay, that keeps it active without you having to think about it.
