Setting up my 3D printer showed me a quick way to lock down my network!
I was getting my printer online for a big project and saw it used my main Wi-Fi. After a quick search, I found out putting it on a guest network keeps my computers safe if it gets compromised. It only took a few minutes in my router settings to set up a separate network for all my gadgets. This small change really helps protect my personal files and other devices!

My Ender 3 printer has been on my home Wi-Fi since I got it... never had a security scare, and setting up separate networks just makes things more complicated. Plus, most gadgets these days have decent built-in protection anyway...

I get what lily_henderson means about it feeling like extra work. I felt the same until my neighbor's smart plug got hacked and started spamming his network. After that, I set up a separate VLAN just for my printer and IoT stuff. It took maybe 20 minutes to figure out in my router app, but now they can't talk to my main devices at all. Feels much safer for almost no effort once it's done.

Oh, that's a smart move. After reading about security risks, I put all my smart home devices like bulbs, thermostat, and robot vacuum on a guest network last year. It keeps them away from my main computers and gives me peace of mind knowing my network is safer. Took about ten minutes in the router settings.
