That one friend who clicked a sketchy link at a coffee shop in Nashville
I was grabbing a latte downtown last month when my buddy Dave opened an email claiming his bank account was frozen, and he clicked the link before I could stop him. Has anyone else had to talk someone out of panic-clicking a phishing link in public?

Are we really acting like one buddy clicking a dumb link in a coffee shop is some massive crisis now? Most people know better, and the ones who don't will learn real quick after they reset their password once or twice.

Oh man, I read somewhere that phishing attacks spike like 30% around the holidays because people are just more distracted and stressed! It's wild how fast those scam links look real too, I swear they're getting better at faking the logos and everything.

Hear me out but I think the numbers might be a little inflated by companies wanting to sell security software. For those of us who have been online since the early 2000s, these phishing emails still have the same telltale signs like weird grammar or urgent demands. People might be distracted around the holidays, but I think most folks are savvier than they used to be about spotting these things.
