That Tuesday when 3 trucks rolled in dead and all 3 fired right up
Last Tuesday I had a Peterbilt 389 come in on a hook, no start, and it turned out to be a loose ground strap on the block that took me 20 minutes to find. Then a guy dropped off his Ram 2500 with a crank no start, and the lift pump fuse was just blown. By 3pm I had a third one, an International with a clogged fuel filter so bad it looked like mud. Three no-starts in one day and none of them needed a single part off the shelf, which basically never happens. What's the weirdest cheap fix you've had on a truck that came in totally dead?
Had a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia last month that came in on the hook with a crank no start, and it turned out to be the battery cable end at the frame rail. It looked fine from the outside but the copper inside was green as grass. I wiggled it and the whole truck fired right up, couldn't believe it. Customer paid me an hour of diag and I felt almost bad taking it. Loose grounds and corroded cable ends get me way more often than anything fancy.
