Okay, I was totally wrong about using only one brush in Procreate for everything.

For like a year, I just used the default Studio Pen for sketching, lineart, shading, you name it. I figured brushes were just a gimmick. Then I saw a timelapse from an artist I follow, and she switched brushes like 15 times in one piece. I tried her method on a portrait last night, using a flat brush for blocking, a soft airbrush for skin tones, and a textured one for hair. The difference was insane. It added so much depth in half the time. What's one brush you guys can't live without now?

Ever think the right brush just lets your hand do what it already knows?

Wait, are we sure this isn't just making things more complicated for no reason? I stuck with one brush for ages and my work got way better just from practice, not from collecting brushes. All that switching seems like it would totally break my flow, and half those fancy brushes just make messy art look intentional. Feels like a distraction from actually learning how to draw.

That flat brush for blocking in shapes cut my sketch time down by maybe 40%. It's not about collecting brushes, it's that some tools are just better for specific jobs.
