Rant: That art show judge who dismissed digital as 'not real'
Met this older painter at a gallery opening 4 months ago. He looked at my tablet drawing and said 'you just let the computer do all the work.' I asked him how 600 hours of practice counts as computer work. He didn't have an answer. Has anyone else had to defend digital art like it's somehow cheating?

Yeah I used to think that way. Saw a digital piece that changed my mind.

Right, that whole "used to think that way" thing really hits. I was totally against digital art for years, thought it was cheating or something. Then I saw this one piece that was like a painting but with light and motion, and it completely changed my mind about what art can be.

What was it about that piece that got to you? I read an article a while back that talked about how digital art can do things traditional painting just can't, like creating layers of light or animation that make the image feel alive. It made me realize it's not about the tools, it's about what the artist is trying to say with them. I've seen some digital landscapes that honestly hit me harder than a lot of oil paintings I've sat in front of for hours. It's kind of wild how our brains can be so stuck on one way of doing things until something new comes along and shakes it up.
