That one random comment 8 years ago on my first fantasy landscape piece

Some guy named @pixelwizard1992 just said 'the lighting on that tree trunk feels real' and it stuck with me way more than any of the polished critiques I got later - has anyone else had a simple offhand remark from a stranger that ended up shaping how you approach your work?

@dylanrodriguez maybe you just had to be there. It's not THAT deep though.

the lighting on that tree trunk feels real" - wait, that ACTUALLY mattered that much to you?

Man @dylanrodriguez is fighting the good fight here. Details like lighting are what make a picture actually work or fall apart. I tried explaining this to my cousin once and he just stared at me like I was speaking a different language. Its frustrating when people act like noticing something makes you picky or weird. But honestly, good on them for sticking with it. That kind of attention is rare these days.
