My friend Sarah was editing her short film last month. Her laptop would take hours to render a simple color correction. At first she just got mad and scrolled on her phone. Then she started keeping a notepad next to her computer. She’d jot down shot ideas or script changes while she waited. She told me the forced breaks made her see problems in the edit she’d missed before. The waiting became part of the work, not just dead time.
