Read that 53% of digital nomads work more hours than they did at home, and I can't tell if that's freedom or a trap
Saw this number in a survey on a nomad blog last week. Half of the people I meet in Chiang Mai coffee shops are grinding past midnight on US client time. Is the flexibility worth losing your evenings, or are we all just working more for less?

The trick is figuring out if you're grinding because you have to or because you let the time zones eat you alive. I did the Chiang Mai thing for two years and the first six months were brutal, working till 3am for US clients because I never set any real limits. What saved me was picking a hard stop time and sticking to it, even if it meant telling a client I'd reply in the morning. You also have to watch your rates, because a lot of nomads work more hours just to cover the same money they made back home with fewer hours. If you're putting in 50 hour weeks and still stressing about rent, that's not freedom, that's just a job with a nicer view. Track your hours for a month and do the math on what you're actually earning per hour, the answer usually tells you if it's worth it.
