Vent: I always thought digital nomads were mostly in Asia, but a report I saw said Portugal has more now
I was reading a report from Nomad List last month that said Lisbon has over 15,000 digital nomads, which is more than Chiang Mai. I found it on their yearly data page. It really surprised me because everyone online always talks about Southeast Asia being the main spot. Has anyone else noticed this shift or is it just a Portugal thing?

Yeah, the "everyone online always talks about Southeast Asia" part is so true. I feel like the influencer content just hasn't caught up to where people are actually going now (which seems to be Europe). My friend in Porto says her whole building is remote workers now, so the data checks out.

Porto's turning into a WeWork with better wine.

It's that weird lag where the travel advice you find is always for the last hot spot, not the current one. All the blogs and videos are still pushing Bali and Chiang Mai because that content's already made and gets clicks. Meanwhile, everyone I know is looking at Lisbon, Madeira, or those smaller Italian towns with good wifi. The digital nomad crowd moves fast, and the cheap flight deals to Europe right now aren't helping.
