Vent: Lost a whole week of work because my VPN went haywire in Bangkok

I was set up at a coworking space in Sukhumvit last Tuesday, crushing through deadlines, and then my VPN just died. Turns out the building's internet was blocking certain ports and I couldn't get back online for three days while support tried to fix it. Missed two deadlines and had to apologize to a gig that paid $800. Anyone else had a random tech failure totally mess up their workflow in a foreign country?

And that's exactly the kind of thing that makes you rethink your whole setup. I had a similar thing happen in Bali where the power went out and my backup battery failed, lost a whole client's project files because I didn't have a proper backup system in place. It's wild how one small tech glitch can snowball into losing money and trust with gigs that took months to land.

Brutal. Nothing worse than a tech failure costing real money.
