Vent: my laptop died in a Chiang Mai cafe and I had a client call in 40 minutes
I was working from a little spot near Nimman last Tuesday when my screen just went black and would not turn back on. My client call was in 40 minutes and my charger was back at the guesthouse, so I grabbed my stuff and ran. I ended up doing the whole call on my phone from a 7-Eleven parking lot with one bar of signal, and somehow it went fine. Now I keep a tiny backup battery in my day bag no matter what. Has anyone else had a laptop just give up in the middle of a work day abroad, and what did you do?

One bar of signal" in a 7-Eleven parking lot is the most real travel work story ever. Backup battery lives in my bag now too.
