Saw a guy in Denver cut his baseboards upside down and the shoe molding hid every gap
He flipped them so the rounded top edge sat against the floor, then covered it all with quarter round. Anyone else do this on purpose or was he just winging it?

Sounds like he just installed them wrong and used quarter round to cover it up.
