Showerthought: my first time mudding a ceiling in my old apartment

I was in my first place in Spokane, trying to smooth a patch. The whole thing sagged and fell out, leaving a bigger hole. I had to cut out the bad section, put in a new piece of drywall, and start over with thinner coats. Anyone else have a mudding disaster that set you back a whole weekend?

Spokane in your first place... that whole patch just fell out of the ceiling. I can't even picture the mess that must have made on the floor. Starting over from scratch like that sounds like the worst kind of weekend killer. I would have just stared at the bigger hole for a good hour before doing anything.

Ugh, been there. I started using a wider knife for the final coats. Way easier to blend it in and avoid those ridges.
