Finally got my homemade router sled to cut a perfect 1/4 inch slab after three failed attempts!

I was about to give up when I realized my plywood base was flexing, so I added a simple 2x4 brace underneath and now it's dead flat, so what's your go-to trick for keeping a work surface rigid?

My buddy Mark spent a whole weekend trying to flatten a tabletop. He finally screwed a sheet of MDF directly to his old workbench, said it was like a ROCK after that.

Why didn't he just start with the MDF?
