Read a forum post about building a shed foundation on crushed stone versus concrete piers
It got me thinking because I spent $400 on concrete for my 8x10 shed last summer and now I wonder if I just needed 3 bags of gravel instead. Has anyone here done a gravel foundation that held up through a few freeze-thaw cycles?

Did you put any gravel under the concrete or just pour it right on the dirt?

Yeah I went with gravel underneath and it made a big difference for drainage honestly... just a few inches of crushed stone compacted down good before pouring. Keeps the slab from settling unevenly over time especially if your soil holds moisture.
