That week I used drywall mud straight from the bucket without mixing it first

Last Tuesday I jumped straight into taping a bathroom in my 1950s house without stirring my pre-mixed mud. Big mistake - by Thursday the joints were cracking and the corners were bubbling because the consistency was all wrong. I had to scrape everything out and start over, wasted about $40 worth of compound. Has anyone else made this mistake or am I just impatient?

Keep that cheap stuff right in the bucket, @taylor_wells, because a little crack just means you get more practice scraping and patching.

Used to skip mixing too but you just convinced me to stir every bucket from now on.

Idk man, I was the same way until I had a bad batch and realized it's totally worth the extra 30 seconds. Now I even make sure to scrape the sides good.
