My old boss insisted on manual dimension checks for every drawing, but my new firm uses a script that runs in the background

The script flags any dimension that doesn't match the model geometry before you even plot. It cut my error-check time from about an hour per set to maybe five minutes. Anyone else using automated checks, or do you still trust the old way?

Wait, that script sounds great but it only catches one type of mistake. My last place had one too, but it missed so much. It wouldn't flag a note that referenced the wrong spec, or a detail that was just plain wrong but dimensionally correct. You still gotta do a real manual check, the script just helps with the boring part. What do you do for the other stuff?

Yeah that "real manual check" part is why I drink so much coffee, skyler_johnson32. The script just warms up my eyeballs.

I mean, that's the real grind right there. The script just gets you to the starting line but the hard stuff is still all on you. It's why my coffee bill is so high too.

That "plain wrong but dimensionally correct" thing reminds me of the time we detailed a left hand part mirrored from the right.
