Question about using a single drawing file for an entire project

I always thought splitting a big project into separate files for each floor was the only way to go. My boss in the Denver office made me try keeping a 12-story building in one file with xrefs, and it actually ran smoother than I expected. Has anyone else moved away from splitting everything up?

Yeah, had the same worry with a big hospital job. Using xrefs for core elements kept the main file surprisingly light.

Twelve stories in one file? That sounds like asking for a crash. My computer would just give up halfway through. I'm shocked it didn't freeze on every pan or zoom. You must have a machine from the future.
