TIL how drafting plans now include things we never thought about back then
When I started out, drafts were all about dimensions and materials lists, with no eye on the environment. I remember drawing up specs for projects that used whatever was cheap and available. These days, I see detailed notes for sustainable timber and low-impact concrete mixes. One clear shift is in site planning, where we now position structures to work with the land, not against it. We used to just flatten a plot and build, but now we draft to preserve trees and manage water runoff. Using modern tools, we can show how a design saves energy over its whole life. It feels better knowing our drawings help build things that last and do less harm.

But is it really that big of a deal... seems like we're maybe overthinking it.
