Overheard a homeowner say drywall dust 'isn't a big deal'
I was at a supply house in Akron yesterday and heard a guy telling the counter person he didn't need dust control because the homeowner said it was fine. Man, that's a setup for a disaster. After 8 years in this trade, I know that stuff gets everywhere and can ruin a floor or get into HVAC systems. Has anyone else had a customer brush off dust protection and then regret it later?

You're making a mountain out of a molehill. Drywall dust isn't asbestos, it's just gypsum and paper. A good sweep and a wipedown with a damp rag takes care of it if you're not a slob. People act like a little dust is going to cause a structural failure or something. The homeowner probably knows their own house better than some contractor who wants to upsell them on plastic sheeting and tape. Plus, telling the counter guy about it just sounds like you're trying to make yourself look like the responsible one while the customer pays the price for your overcaution.

Oh FOR SURE, I had this EXACT same thing happen with my guy who did our basement. He made it sound like we needed to seal off the whole house and wear hazmat suits for a little drywall patch job. Some people just LOVE to make simple jobs sound way bigger than they are.
