Swore off two coats on patches, then a hallway job in Spokane bit me
I always figured one coat over a patch was plenty if I feathered it right. Then we did this hallway in Spokane, 40 feet of it, and under the raking light every seam showed like a roadmap. Came back the next morning and did three coats on the whole run, and you couldn't find a single one. Cost me half a day but the painter stopped texting me about touch ups. So do you guys always go three on big flat walls or only when the light is bad?
Did your rep ever tell you about the time he had to do a whole gym ceiling because of this? He swore two coats was fine on a small patch job and it looked great at first. Then a couple weeks later the sun came through those high windows just right and every joint was glowing like a neon sign. He ended up rolling the whole thing again at his own cost and lost a weekend to it. After that he told me he just does three coats on anything that gets hard light, no matter how good the patch looks. Have you noticed it mostly happens with natural light or do the shop lights catch it too?
