Serious question, is a $200 thermal camera for phones actually worth it?
I bought one to find shorts on boards, but the resolution is so low it just shows big blobs of heat. It can't pinpoint a single bad component next to others. Has anyone found a real use for these cheap phone attachments, or did I just burn cash?

Honestly, that's exactly why I returned mine. You basically need the higher end ones to see any real detail, right? Tbh they're kinda just a toy at that price.

Tell me about it. I saw victor651's post and felt that in my soul. You spend all that money just to see a glowing blob that could be a planet, a streetlight, or a weird smudge on the lens. My "detailed view" of Jupiter was a bright dot with two slightly less bright dots vaguely near it. Felt like I needed a second mortgage just to see a stripe.

Feel your pain, man. Got suckered into buying one for the same reason and it was totally useless. Those big blobs tell you nothing.
