Warning: I killed a 15 year old Yamaha receiver by cleaning it while it was plugged in
Last Saturday I was dusting out a Yamaha RX-V659 I got off a guy in Akron for $40, and I absentmindedly sprayed contact cleaner near the power board while it was still plugged in, which popped the main fuse and took two output transistors with it. I sat there for 20 minutes staring at the scorch mark feeling like an idiot before ordering replacement parts on eBay. Does anyone else have a strict unplug rule they follow, or do you trust yourself with the switch on?
