Was skeptical about automated follow-up sequences until I tried one

I used to think all those automated email sequences were just spammy nonsense. But after losing a $3,200 job last fall because I forgot to follow up with a client in Cleveland, I finally set one up. Three weeks later a different client replied to a check-in email and booked a full brake job and some suspension work. Has anyone else had automated follow-ups actually work for them or am I just getting lucky?

I read somewhere that timing is everything with these things and it sounds like you nailed it! Happy for you that it worked out, sometimes luck is just smart planning in disguise.

Oh man, I gotta push back a little here @the_jessica. I respect what you're saying but I don't think luck is really a thing you can plan for. You just put in the work day after day and hope something sticks. Timing definitely helps but I've seen too many people wait around for the perfect moment and miss out entirely. Honestly I think most of it is just showing up when you're tired and doing it anyway, not some secret strategy.

Did you ever read that study about how people need an average of 5 touches before they even think about buying something? I remember seeing that somewhere and it made me realize most of us give up way too early on leads. Sounds like your automated sequence just kept you in the game long enough for the timing to work out.
