A phone call with my dad made me see late invoices different
Called my old man last week to vent about a client who's been ghosting me for 2 months on a $1,400 logo job. He's been doing construction since the 80s and just said 'son, I've had guys pay me 9 months late with a check that bounced twice. You're new at this.' Hit me weird cause I always thought he just got paid on time. Asked him how he dealt with it and he said he just built a cushion of savings and stopped chasing after the third reminder. Not saying I'm gonna stop sending invoices, but it made me realize I got way too much stress tied up in one late check. Anyone else get perspective from someone outside freelancing that changed how you handle the waiting game?
