DAE notice that new folks are way too polite about late payments
A guy I met at a coffee shop in Denver last week asked me to look over a contract he was about to send out for a $2,200 web job. He had a whole paragraph in there apologizing for needing a deposit up front. I asked why he wrote that and he shrugged and said he didn't want to seem pushy. That hit me weird because I spent my whole first year doing the same thing and got burned twice on $800 and $1,500 jobs that dragged out for months. Now I just put net 14 with a late fee and no apology. Has anyone else seen this with newer freelancers, or is it mostly a me thing?
