My old landlord in Des Moines paid his handyman in cash on the spot, and I keep thinking about it
I grabbed coffee last week with a guy who did handyman work for my old landlord in Des Moines back in 2009, and he mentioned the guy kept a locked box of cash and paid every invoice the same day, no exceptions. I run a design shop and I'm currently staring down $3,400 that's 47 days past due from a client who keeps saying "processing." Back then I thought the cash box thing was just some old school quirk, but now it feels like the whole point, because the work was done and the money moved right then. Maybe we all got too used to net 30 becoming net 90 and just shrugging at it. Anyone else ever try switching to deposit plus balance on delivery for bigger projects, and did clients actually go for it?
