Paid $99 for a 'late payment' letter template that a free one could've done better
So I got tired of chasing a client in Denver who owed me $3,400 for a logo package, and I bought this $99 template pack from some guy on Instagram promising it would get people to pay in 48 hours. Spoiler: it was basically a fill in the blank letter with scary words, and the client ignored it just like my normal emails. What finally worked was calling his business partner directly, which cost me nothing. Save your money and just make the call yourself, or send a demand letter you write in ten minutes. Has anyone found a free template that actually got a deadbeat client to pay?

Man, I used to buy into the idea that the right words on paper could do the job for you. I figured if it looked official enough, people would just pay up. Then a guy owed me $1,800 and I paid $60 for some "final notice" package that had more courtroom words than a TV drama. He tossed it in the trash and I ended up getting my money by showing up at his office in person. That taught me the paper was never the thing doing the work, it was the pressure behind it.
