Retainer up front or chase forever, which one saves your sanity?
Last year in Portland I took a $2,000 logo job with no deposit because the guy seemed nice. Did the work, sent the invoice, then he ghosted me for 8 weeks while I sent polite reminders every Friday. Finally he paid after I threatened a public naming post, but I felt gross about it. Now I'm debating if a 50% deposit makes me look pushy or just professional, and I want to hear which approach actually works for people here.
