Vent: chasing a $650 invoice from a bakery in Dayton took 11 weeks and it was one dumb line on my contract
Back in March I did a full site refresh for a small bakery in Dayton and the owner went quiet on me with $650 still on the table, so I started digging through our emails and found my contract said 'net 30' but never actually said what happens if they don't pay. I spent almost two months sending polite reminders and then a certified letter, which finally got a check after 11 weeks, and it only worked because I stumbled on a late fee clause from a template I'd saved years ago. How detailed do you all get on late fees and payment terms up front, because clearly my one-line version wasn't cutting it?
Sounds like a hassle but 11 weeks and you still got paid, so the system kind of worked. Small bakery probably just runs on tight margins and forgets stuff like this, not sure it means your contract was broken. Worth adding a real late fee line but I wouldn't lose sleep over one client.
