A regular told me my extractions felt rushed, and she was right.
She said, 'You go so fast, it feels like you're just checking a box.' I thought being quick was good, but I slowed down the next time. Now I spend a full minute on each problem area, checking with a magnifier first. Has anyone else had to learn to pace themselves better?

Checking a box" is such a perfect way to put it. I had to learn that being thorough FEELS different to the client than just being fast.

Watched my buddy do a facial once where he rushed through the inspection like it was a chore. Client looked so tense the whole time. Next visit, he made himself pause and actually look at each section under the light, even mumbled a few notes. Same client totally melted into the table because someone was finally seeing her skin, not just scrubbing it. That shift from task to focus changed everything for him. He said it built more trust in one session than six months of quick, perfect extractions.

How do you even start to slow down when you're used to being fast? I had to force myself to count in my head during each step, like a ten-second cleanse before I even touch the tool. It felt weird at first, almost too slow. But now I notice way more, like tiny closed comedones I used to miss. The client can tell you're looking, not just doing.
