Spent 45 minutes trying to figure out why a client's skin was peeling wrong

I had this client come in last Tuesday with a peel that just wasn't lifting right. She said she followed my instructions exactly but I could SEE the flakes were uneven and patchy. Took me a solid 45 minutes to realize she had been using a retinol serum from a different brand the night before without telling me. The ingredients just clashed and locked up the peel solution. I felt like an idiot for not asking her outright about her home routine before starting. Now I make EVERY client list out every single product they used in the last 48 hours before I touch them. Has anyone else run into this kind of product interference that took way too long to spot?

Bet, that retinol will mess everything up. Learned that one the hard way too.

Three retinol products in a week... I used to think asking about every single product was overkill but now I get it. This post totally changed how I prep for any chemical service.
