Old timer in Denver told me to burn my new rasps before use
He said they need a few passes on a junk hoof to wear off the sharp edge or they'll grab too hot and tear the wall. Tried it on my last set of 6 and the finish was way smoother, no more chips. Anyone else do this or just me?

Guess the old timer forgot to mention you need to season the rasp like a cast iron skillet too.
