That time a horse flinched and I finally got it
I've been shoeing for about 8 years now and always thought I had a pretty good handle on balancing a foot. But last month I was working on this old thoroughbred, real gentle guy, and he flinched hard when I set the shoe. The owner said he'd been doing that for a while. I took a closer look at my prep and realized I was leaving too much heel on every single shoe I nailed up. Made a small adjustment to trim more heel away and the horse stood like a statue. Has anyone else had a moment where one horse just made you rethink your whole approach to trimming?

Reminds me of the time I redid my entire garage shelving after one shelf sagged.

Tbh, "redid your entire garage shelving" over one shelf sagging? That seems a bit extra. A single sagging shelf is annoying sure, but it's not like the whole system collapsed and took out your car. Couldn't you just replace that one shelf board or slide a piece of plywood under it? I feel like people act like a minor inconvenience means everything has to be torn out and started fresh. One loose screw doesn't mean you rebuild the whole house, you know?
