My muslin fitting notes changed after I watched a tailor in Savannah

I mean, I've been doing fittings for like 4 years now and I always just wrote down what looked off. Last week I sat in on this older tailor working on a prom dress in Savannah and he was circling every seam allowance on the muslin with a red pencil. I asked him why and he said he maps the stress points before he even pins. So I tried it on my last client's jacket mockup and it caught a shoulder tilt I would've missed until the second fitting. Took me maybe 10 extra minutes but saved a whole redo. Anybody else do visual markers on the muslin before pinning?

Honestly sounds like extra work for something that may not even matter. I've done fittings for years and just pin where it's tight, never traced a thing. Maybe if you're doing super fancy stuff all the time it helps, but for normal jackets and dresses, seems like overthinking it. Plus that one shoulder tilt thing, you'd catch that at the next fitting anyway, right?
