Pro tip: stop using those cheap plastic post hole diggers from Home Depot
Broke my third one last month on a job in Austin, and it finally hit me that I've been wasting money on the wrong tool. My buddy Ron showed up with his old school steel digger from the 80s and finished my holes in half the time. Anybody else ditch the plastic handles for good and never look back?

Watching @william_craig7 nail those rocky holes made me swap for an old steel one too.

Keep buying steel handles then. Those Home Depot ones work fine for light jobs around my place.

Man those plastic handled ones are just asking for trouble. Broke two of them in one afternoon on some rocky soil out near San Antonio, and the handle just snapped clean off like a twig. My neighbor let me borrow his old steel one from the 80s, and I swear I finished the rest of the holes in like 20 minutes. The weight difference alone is night and day - the steel one just drives itself down while the plastic ones bounce around like a toy. Your mileage may vary if you're just digging in soft garden dirt, but for any real work I'll never touch another plastic handle.
