That one comment about my gate sagging that actually fixed everything
Ngl, I was so annoyed when a customer pointed out my gate was already sagging 3 months after I hung it. He said I needed to add a specific diagonal brace from the bottom hinge to the top corner, not just any random angle. Tried it on the next job in Fresno and the thing is still dead level 8 months later. Has anyone else gotten feedback that felt like a burn but turned out to be a lifesaver?

Honestly, that diagonal brace trick is the real deal. I had a similar issue with a fence panel and a buddy told me to do the same thing bottom hinge to top corner and it hasn't budged. Saved me from having to redo the whole thing.

Funny how the simplest fixes are the ones that ALWAYS outlast everything else.

Nailed it, honestly. That brace trick is one of those things where you kick yourself for not thinking of it sooner lol. It just makes so much sense once you see it, but nobody ever tells you about it until you're elbow deep in a DIY disaster. I had a gate at my place that was starting to sag real bad, and one 2x4 diagonal later, it's been solid for two years now. For real, the cheap fixes that work always win in the long run.
