After three batches, I'm ditching the fancy fermentation weights.

They just add cost without improving the ferment.

Yeah, those weights always felt like an extra step for no real gain.

My cousin in Austin swears by the glass jar method with just a cabbage leaf on top. She's been doing it for years and never had a problem, which honestly surprised me. I tried it once and got a weird film on the surface, so I went back to my little ceramic weights. Guess it depends on your kitchen vibe lol.

Remember my friend's ferment? No weights, still good.

Good to hear it worked out for @river_flores73, but skipping weights still makes me nervous about mold.
